OUR STORY
THE EXAMPLEB1 STORY
I’m not sure if this is necessary or of any interest to anyone, but I have been thinking that some may wonder what EXAMPLEB1 is about or trying to say. The truth is I’m not quite sure myself.
Years ago, I thought it would be cool to have a major sportswear brand like Nike, Adidas, and others, but with a Christian identity. I didn’t want it to just be about putting scriptures on clothing. I wanted it to speak to me about being a Christian and remind me to put my faith into practice. After my salvation through Jesus Christ, God has shown me my sins more clearly, and I realize they are sometimes difficult to face and resist. I know that wearing a Christian t-shirt is no substitute for daily reading, studying, meditating on God’s word, listening, communicating with the Lord through prayer, and living a life guided by the Holy Spirit. I just thought a little encouragement from believers to believers would be cool.
Have you ever seen those Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders wave to each other even though they are strangers? They do that because they share a love for that brand of motorcycle. It doesn’t matter who you are. If you ride a Harley, you are considered part of their community. I want EXAMPLEB1 to be like that, Christians acknowledging each other as members of God’s body of believers. And no matter who they are, when you see someone wearing the EX logo, you might give them a wave or a nod. And that wave or nod recognizes that we are family. We share the same love of Christ and the same goal - to glorify God and to persevere in living out our faith by the power of the Holy Spirit. I think I would be encouraged by that.
That being said, 1 Timothy 4:12 stood out to me. The word example stood out to me especially. I noticed the “e” and the “x” when placed close together, resembled the often seen fish symbol used in Christian history, and even today, to identify oneself as a follower of Christ. I began to work with several design ideas. An early version, which I now call “Vintage,” looked more like the fish symbol. But over time, I felt it resembled it too closely, so I went back to the drawing board and came up with the current design.
That’s about it! EXAMPLEB1 will be whatever God purposes in His perfect will. Like my life, God has shown me just enough light on my path to trust him for another step. It would be nice to see someone other than myself wearing the logo out in public from time to time. Maybe I’ll see you? : )
May God continue to bless you, and remember,
Let's Live It!
Sincerely,
Rod Solomon
